Description

The silver and parcel gilt case of honeycomb design featuring a thumbpiece set with five sugarloaf cabochon sapphires, 5 x 3¼ inches, signed Cartier Paris, Londres, New York, with French assay and workshop marks; the gold samorodok case set with a cabochon sapphire thumbpiece, gross weight approximately 107 dwts, 3⅞ x 2⅝ inches, with Russian assay mark, circa 1908-1927.

Condition

CARTIER CASE: In good overall condition with scratching throughout commensurate with use and minor indentations seen on close inspection. Parcel gilt sections with rose gold, remaining intact throughout. The yellow gilt interior with some thinning. The silver lightly tarnished, but may be polished to client's preference. Spots of discoloration to the corners which may or may not come out with a thorough polishing. Signed on the interior lower rim of the cover. The medium blue sapphires are decorative in quality with one with crack-like cavity seen under 10x magnification. SAMORODOK CASE: In overall good condition with typical surface wear. Some age related oxidation evident at hindges.Russian assay marks for 14K gold, but no apparent maker's marks. The medium blue cabochon sapphire is eye-clean.
