Description

Centering a rectangular modified emerald-cut emerald weighing 2.63 carats millegrain-set between a pair of old European-cut diamonds, within an ornately finished gallery, the shoulders set with additional old European-cut diamonds, size 5¾, inscribed with name, address and the date May 8, 1897.

Condition

In very good condition, engraved detail and open filigree are sharp and distinct, minor scratches to the base of the shank. Partially inscribed 'G.T.Van V... 7 St., May 8, 1897,.' The emerald of very slightly bluish green hue, medium tone and strong saturation; lightly included with some inclusions visible at 10X magnification. The two old European-cut diamonds, weighing a total of approximately 3.00 carats, are approximately G-H color and VS1 clarity, one stone with a minute chip to girdle edge visible under 10x magnification; six additional round diamonds weighing a total of approximately 0.15 carat, approximately G-H color and VS-SI clarity. The shank is slightly out-of-round. Accompanied by AGL report no. 1088821 stating that the emerald is of Colombian origin, clarity enhancement: none.
