The pair of lion's heads accented with pear-shaped cabochon emerald eyes, the manes pavé-set with round diamonds, on a hinged hammered gold cuff, gross weight approximately 87 dwts, internal circumference 6¼ inches, signed David Webb, numbered FC2. With signed box.

Condition

In very good condition, no obvious wear to metalwork, slight discoloration to underside of lion head with concealed perfume. Numbered FC2. Stamped 900PT and 18K. The numerous round diamonds weighing a total of approximately 2.85 carats, E-F color, VS clarity. The emeralds are deep, strongly saturated green, moderate to high clarity. Please note that the gross weight is inclusive of the solid perfume (Estée Lauder Modern Muse). Created as part of a limited edition, lots 20 - 23 were inspired by the personal relationship between jeweler David Webb and beauty entrepreneur Estée Lauder. David Webb’s high impact designs were the perfect complement to Estée Lauder’s vibrant personality, and the pieces she acquired from the firm in the 1960s and 70s formed a significant portion of her renowned jewelry collection. As noted by Mark Emanuel, current co-owner of David Webb, jewels have doubled as perfume vessels for centuries, both elements serving to enhance the beauty of the wearer. With the sale of these jewels, Sotheby’s is pleased once again to be partnering with the Lauder family in raising funds for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
