The rectangular dial applied with Arabic numerals and blued steel hands, revealed by a revolving mechanism within a gold bow-shaped frame, the reverse pavé-set with old European-cut diamonds, the front accented with calibré-cut sapphires, on a gold bracelet of honeycomb design studded with round sapphires, mechanical movement, length 6¾ inches, dial partially signed Van Cleef & Arpels, movement signed Panto Watch Co., bracelet numbered 48444, caseback numbered 3307, with French assay and workshop marks; circa 1940.

Condition

In good overall condition; the gold with surface scratches and some discoloration commensurate with age. Evidence of adhesive between the dial face and mechanism (only visible when mechanism is remove from bracelet). The hour hand with some dark oxidation. The letters 'N CL' on the dial signature are partially rubbed. French assay marks for gold on bracelet and caseback. Reverse side of bracelet with French workshop mark for Pery (A.) et Cie, 7, bd Saint-Denis, 75003 Paris. The diamonds, estimated to weigh a total of approximately 6.00 carats, are approximately G-H color, VS-SI clarity, some I clarity. The sapphires are medium blue color, slightly included, some with minor abrasion from wear, predominantly to the round sapphires. Dial is revealed and hidden by rotating one of the two sapphire embellished tabs. Gross weight approximately 100 dwts. Watch is in running condition at time of cataloguing, but has not been tested for accuracy of time keeping.
