Description
Comprising: an evening bag of woven design, the thumbpiece set with calibré-cut rubies, opening to reveal a mirror, measuring approximately 165 x 115 x 38mm, fitted case stamped Brahmfeld & Gutruf; a powder compact, the engraved top embellished with cabochon rubies, opening to reveal a powder compact and a mirror, measuring approximately 90 x 55 x 9mm, maker's mark; a gold case of cylindrical shape and woven design, enhanced with a cabochon ruby, measuring approximately 92 x 37 x 25mm; and a lipstick holder, measuring approximately 55 x 18mm, unillustrated, total gross weight approximately 662 grams.
Condition
The lipstick holder, the powder compact and the case stamped with maker's mark and 750 for 18 carat gold. Rubies purplish red, with typical inclusions visible under close inspection, some surface reaching, one with cavities. Evidence of wear to the metal consistent with age and wear with scratches and evidence of tarnish, especially to the inside of the lady's bag. The lot may benefit from the attention of a jewel. Total gross weight approximately 662 grams.
