Description

  • Gold, sapphire, diamond
The cushion-shaped sapphire weighing 5.60 carats, encircled by a snake motif set with circular-cut diamonds, the eyes embellished with circular-cut rubies, Austrian assay and maker's marks, later brooch fitting.

Condition

Accompanied by SSEF report no. 99297, and Gübelin report no. 18040050, each stating that the cushion shaped sapphire, weighing 5.60 carats, measuring 9.00 x 8.28 x 7.67mm, is of Kashmir origin, with no indications of heating. Partial Austrian assay and maker's marks. Sapphire, blue of medium strong saturation, minor abrasions. Diamonds estimated to weigh approximately 4.00 - 4.50 carats, on average H-I colour, SI clarity, as gauged and graded in the mount. Rubies well matched in colour. Scratches and tarnish to the metal consistent with age and use. In good condition. Gross weight approximately 17 grams.
