Condition

The canvas appears original. There is some light frame abrasion to the edges, with some associated flecks of loss including to the upper edge towards the right. There is one isolated area of very faint craquelure towards the upper part of the left edge in the middle of the foliage. There is light surface dust throughout and isolated instances of studio matter. Subject to the above, the work appears to be in very good overall condition. Inspection under ultraviolet light reveals a small number of spots of fluorescence to the sky, possibly indicating sensitively executed retouching. The work is held in a painted wooden frame.
