Condition

The canvas appears original. There is some very minor frame abrasion at the extreme lower corners. There is a faint horizontal stretcher bar mark to the lower left corner with a small number of horizontal historic and fine lines of cracking. There is an historic faint vertical scratch to the lower left of the parrot. There is a very light rub to the black pigment to the upper left edge and a light scuff to the lower right corner. There are a small number of accretions in the paint, and some studio detritus and light surface dust. Subject to the above, the work appears in very good overall condition. Inspection under ultraviolet light reveals fluorescence and retouching towards the lower left corner and to the lower left quadrant with one or two instances elsewhere. The work is held in a wooden box frame. Please telephone the department on +44 (0) 207 293 6424 if you have any questions regarding the present work.
