Condition

The canvas appears original. The canvas undulates slightly in places. There is very minor historic abrasion to the extreme corners. There is one very slight indentation to the canvas towards the right edge above centre in the lilac pigment and one very slight push in the yellow shape to the left. There are two very fine horizontal lines of cracking in the yellow shape at the upper right. There is a small light scratch at the centre of the right edge in the cream pigment with a small fleck of associated loss. There is a light vertical scuff to the upper right yellow pigment with one or two more minor scuffs elsewhere. There is a rub at the left of the lower edge. There are a small number of instances of studio matter and detritus and some light surface dust in places. Subject to the above, the work appears in very good overall condition. Inspection under ultraviolet light reveals fluorescence and retouching to the extreme edges, a line of retouching to the outermost contour of the upper left shape, and a few instances of spot retouching to the lower right yellow shape. These have all been very sensitively executed. The work is floated and held within a gilt painted wooden frame.
