Exhibited

Condition

The board bows very slightly but appears sound. There are scattered fine lines of reticulation throughout the work, most visible to the sky. There is a fine horizontal line of surface cracking to the centre of the extreme right edge. There are other very faint lines of cracking in line with the grain of the board in places to the edges. There is evidence of the grey paint of the Artist's integral frame to the extreme edges. There is a scuff towards the lower left edge. There are a small number of pinhead sized losses to the paint, most visible to the sky. There is one vertical scratch in the upper left quadrant. There is surface dirt and matter. Subject to the above, the work appears in very good overall condition. Ultraviolet light reveals areas of fluorescence to the lower half and upper right quadrant, some of which probably relates to retouching and other instances which are in line with the Artist's use of pigment. The work is held in the Artist's integral frame. Please telephone the department on +44 (0) 207 293 6424 if you have any questions regarding the present work.
