Their sale, Christie's London, 23rd March 1995, lot 53, where acquired by the late owner

Condition

The sheet is adhered to the mount with two strips of adhesive tape at the upper corners. The upper edge is serated and the sheet is shaped at the lower corners. There are remnants of previous adhesive tape to the verso, two of which protroud at the extreme left and lower edges, not visible in the present mount.There is a tear to the sheet at the left edge, just above centre, and a further small tear to the lower edge, to the left of centre. There is a vertical crease running the length of the sheet to the right of the two women and a diagonal crease towards the lower left corner with further more minor creasing elsewhere. There is an area of adhesive residue towards the lower right corner. The sheet has some staining in line with the acidic mount, not visible in the mount, and some time staining.
