Acquired directly from the Artist by Mrs Alice Burkitt circa 1948 and thence by descent to the present owner

The canvas appears original. The canvas undulates. There is a tiny perforation to the canvas towards the centre of the composition in the branches, only visible upon close inspection. There is some minor lifting and associated tiny flecks of loss towards the lower edge to the left of centre. There is a couple of small spots of loss in the sky towards the upper left corner, with one or two possible further more minor and historic flecks of loss elsewhere. There is surface dirt and matter to the work and a discoloured varnish. Subject to the above, the work appears in very good overall condition. Inspection under ultraviolet light reveals a small spot of fluorescence and probable retouching towards the lower left corner with a small number of further possible tiny spot retouchings elsewhere.
