Condition

Overall in good original condition consistent with age and use. The surfaces present with rubbing, scuffs, scratches, some small chips concentrated to the edges, and discolorations throughout as partially visible in the catalogue illustration and consistent with age and gentle use.  There is a faint varnish to to both the desk and chair and this has largely rubbed off on the desktop surface. The support brackets underneath the desktop each with a horizontal separation approximately 12 in. (30.5 cm) radiating from one end, likely from shrinkage of the wood over time. The underside central stretcher with losses to one side across the width of the piece. The outer shelves of the desk each with a gentle warp which is not visually disruptive. The outer edge of one of the lower shelves with a loss which measures approximately 3/4 x 24 x 3/4 in. (2 x 61 x 2 cm). The chair with scattered rubbing, small chips and scratches throughout. The proper right front leg with a loss which measures approximately 8 x 3/4 in. (20.3 x 2 cm), visible in the catalogue illustration. The proper right rear leg with a few minor losses concentrated to the base.  A beautiful suite in original condition that presents very well overall.
