Description

  • height 11 3/4 in.; 29.8 cm
each side with a central roundel painted with one of the Eight Immortals set within a honeycomb openwork panel framed by a painted diaper border, the conforming base and cover similarly reticulated at the sides, accented with pierced vertical flanges at the corners, and painted at the tops with floral cartouches against a diaper ground, wired for electricity

Condition

One upper flange restored around the suspension hole. The upper section with a short parallel hairline crack otherwise with wear overall, particularly to the iron red and gilt and minor characteristic firing imperfection. Wired for electricity and sections of the lantern joined by the inner metalwork lighting fixture, which is secured to the base section with 6 screws.
