Description

  • height 14 1/8 in.; 35.9 cm
the bell-shaped body boldly painted in brilliant enamels with massive peonies blossoming in shades of fuchsia, lavender, turquoise, and iron-red surrounded by lush foliage, rockwork, and butterflies, a circular aperture at the base, wood stands, 4 pieces

Condition

One jardiniere with a restored chip to the rim with associated overpaint, and the other with frits to the interior of the mouth restored, and also with a further firing line extending from the aperture at the base up the side of the foot. Restoration has now yellowed and flaking. Both with minor firing imperfections and surface wear. Please note that this lot includes a stand, frame or other component made from a type of Chinese hardwood, which, if exported, will require a CITES permit to leave the United States.
