Description

  • width 9 1/4 in.; 23.5 cm
each jardinière of rectangular section supported on four bracket feet, the sides waisted, the long sides naturalistically painted with birds perched on branches of blossoming prunus, the short sides with bees buzzing above purple morning glories and blooming pink magnolia, black patterned bands at the rim, the base with two circular apertures, the conforming stands set over four bracket feet and painted with black enamel scrollwork at the rim and sides

Condition

One jardiniere in overall good condition, the other with a chip to the underside of the mouth rim measuring approx. 3/4 in. (1.9 cm). The inside of both stands with degraded glaze and the underside with heavy abrasion marks in the center and with traces of red pigment possibly reading 'Hong Kong' on one. All pieces with light traces of limescale.
