the rounded sides sweeping up to a waisted neck, painted around the body with an elegantly dressed lady seated on a bench resting one arm on a tall stack of books and lifting the other in an instructive gesture toward two boys holding a piece of writing and a lotus, respectively, all between decorative borders encircling the foot and shoulder, the neck painted with iron-black bamboo

Condition

The neck has been reduced. There is also some crazing to the glaze with russet discoloration. There is a small glaze flake to the scholar's rock, and minor firing imperfections and wear scattered throughout.
