Description

  • diameter of larger 16 3/4 in., 42.5 cm
comprising a massive octagonal jardinière, each facet painted in inky cobalt with either a soaring phoenix or resplendent lotus blossom against scrolling foliate vines between a lappet border below and ruyi and keyfret bands above, wood stand; and a round jardinière painted to the exterior with eight auspicious animals prowling between a band of fruits and flowers below and a patterned band above with reserved panels of fruits and flowers and a band of reserved dots, wood stand, 4 pieces

Condition

Both with minor firing imperfections, surface wear and minor chips and frits. The interiors of both with traces of limescale. The octagonal jardiniere with a bruise chip to the interior of the mouth rim. The smaller jardinière with a branching crack spreading around the base, a star crack to the body (length approx. 9.5 cm), and small chips to the interior of the foot.
