lacquered wood reproducing calligraphy of Dokuryu for temple display signed Tenban yano, an art name of Dokuryu Shoeki (1596-1672), and three seals 喜鳥花歌方再宿 有中壽童在當仁 Joyous birds, singing amidst the flowers, Have just come home to roost. Would you be a long-lived boy? It lies in being humane.

Condition

There is a little rubbing to the surface of the panel, as can be seen in the photograph, with some minor chips to the gilt frame edging and a few minor cracks to the lacquer bordering the gilt frame between the outer wood frame. The outer wood frame has some wear commensurate with age. The reverse has one strut missing, not visible from the front, and slight worm damage to the left hand bottom corner.
