Catalogue Note

The present work combines two dominant themes of Picasso's artistic ouevre: his obsessive re-imagining of the still-life format and the three-dimensional malleability of working in clay. The spherical shape of the present work is very rare for Picasso's unique ceramics and stands as testament to his understanding of perspective.
