Condition

This work is in very good condition overall, taking its age into account. The colors are vibrant, and the media layer and all wooden elements are stable and secure. The wooden elements all present a worn and unfinished surface, which is consistent with the supports and working method utilized by the artist. A one-inch horizontal fine line of media loss is present at the upper left edge, five inches down from the upper left corner. A one-inch vertical line of media loss is present in the upper right quadrant, at the top of the longest vertical element of the black figure. Additional minor spots of wear with minor areas of pigment loss which may be inherent to the work are present in the following locations: a one-inch vertical area at the upper right corner of the head of the black figure; ½ inch areas at each corner of the base of each of the elements along the bottom of the work. Faint light brown spot accretions measuring between 1 and 1 ½ inches in size are present in the following locations: three in the upper center quadrant between the heads of the figures; one in the lower left quadrant between the legs of the left figure and the vertical red bar; one in the lower right quadrant between the red triangle and the black vertical bar.
