- A jewelled gold, ivory and enamel portrait snuff box, probably Hanau, circa 1830

rectangular, the lid set with an oval miniature on ivory of a handsome young man with auburn curls, his frilled collar open over a blue coat with scarlet revers, French school, circa 1790, the ground applied with scrolls and fleurs-de-lis in strass within narrow blue enamel borders, the base engraved in the Italian style with a palace courtyard, chased floral border and corners, apparently unmarked
Condition
The lid would certainly benefit from professional cleaning to brighten the stones. The miniature has flaked a little near the base and there is also very old mould whivh needs to be removed. The box itself is good and crisp.
