This sugar tong is part of the famous Demidoff service, ordered to JBC Odiot by Count Nicolas Demidoff in 1817 in Paris. This service was later bought through Hancock, London, by Count Alfred Morton de la Chapelle who had his arms engraved together with a modified version of his arms for his wife who had none. 1863 is the date of birth of their only son, in Australia.
