There is some minor surface scratching visible throughout from wear. The case back is personally inscribed "B.R.B. 1975" Bracelet with equivalent wear and stretch. Dial: The dial is in good overall condition. There is partial loss to the luminous hour markers at 3, 4, 6, and 7 o'clock hour positions. Movement: The movement received a full factory movement service at Rolex roughly 10 years ago. The chronograph function is operating properly. The movement is running at time of cataloguing, however it was not tested for the accuracy of time or duration of the power reserve and may need service at the buyer's discretion. Please note that Sotheby's does not guarantee the future working of the movement

Catalogue Note

The reference 6263, and its companion the 6265, were introduced in the late 1960s as an evolution of the 6239 and 6241. They retained the option of having either an acrylic or metal bezel, but added extra water protection by having screw down pushers for the chronograph. The movement was also upgraded to the cal. 727. The model continued to be offered in stainless steel and gold, with a select few destined for the American market cased in 14k yellow gold. The present lot is further distinguished by bearing the signature of Tiffany & Co. on the dial, fitting for the 14k yellow gold case and accompanying 14k yellow gold Jubilee bracelet, made in the U.S.A. According to our research, this is only the second example of a 14k yellow gold Daytona 6263, retailed by Tiffany & Co., to come to market.
