Breguet's modern-era productions frequently make reference to their illustrious historical pieces. Such is the case with the present lot, the dial of which bears a striking resemblance to Breguet No. 5, the firm's 1794 perpétuelle masterpiece. That piece was acquired at auction in 2001 for over one million dollars, and is now in the Breguet Historical Collection.
The perpétuelle movement of the present lot features a hammer-form oscillating weight, a design Breguet originally designed in 1791. The modern version was manufactured by Michel Parmigiani and the rotor itself is rendered in platinum.
