Catalogue Note
In 1994, A. Lange & Söhne introduced the Tourbillon 'Pour le Mérite', the first wristwatch to include both a tourbillon and a fusée-and-chain transmission. Nearly one decade later, in 2005, the Tourbograph 'Pour le Mérite' was launched. Along with the tourbillon and fusée-and-chain transmission, the firm added a split seconds chronograph complication, making the Tourbograph the most complicated watch in its oeuvre until the introduction of the 2013. This model combines technical genius with masterful artistry. The firm drew inspiration from its past in the design of the dial. The carefully chosen hands, Arabic numerals, and outer railway minute track all pay homage to A. Lange & Söhne's legendary pocket watches. The two diamond endstones that suspend the tourbillon cage demonstrate the firm's dedication to creating pieces using the highest quality materials.
A. Lange & Söhne produced the Tourbograph in a limited edition of 51 pieces in platinum, and 50 pieces in honey gold. The meticulously rendered aesthetics and technical mastery of the present lot make this piece an exceptional addition to any collection.
