Catalogue Note

Accompanied by a Ulysse Nardin Certificate of Limited Edition confirming the present lot as number two in a limited series of 18 pieces, dated April 12, 1998. Together with a second Certificate of Limited Edition signed by Rolf W. Schnyer, President, Ulysse Nardin SA. Also with an additional 18k pink gold Ulysse Nardin folding buckle, one instructional booklet, and a presentation box. Ulysse Nardin has a rich legacy of producing complicated watches with repeaters and automatons.  The attention to detail the firm places on each of their pieces is extremely evident here with this limited edition Jungle Repeater.

The dial comprises of two separate cloisonné dials, giving it a three dimensional appearance.  This technique adds depth to the scene, down to the smallest detail of a fish leaping from the water behind a rock in the foreground towards the left side of the dial.

Craftsmen used the cloisonné enameling technique to delicately render each creature, tree, and flower that feature in this jungle scene.  The smaller the motif, the more difficult it is for the artisan to place each cloison.  The cloisonné work is exceptional given the time consuming and precise artistry needed to render each detail.

When the wearer activates the minute-repeating slide, the jungle scene truly comes alive.  The tiger waves its paw, and the toucan rocks back and forth with each chime.

The Jungle Repeater was produced as an extremely limited edition, with only 18 pieces each made in yellow gold, pink gold, and platinum.
