Jaeger-LeCoultre’s 'Reverso' model was introduced in 1931, and has since been a staple within the firm.  Initially created with Polo players in mind, the concept of the 'Reverso' was intended to protect their watch from getting damaged during a match.

Since its inception, the model has evolved.  Not only are they made as wristwatches, but also as pendant and pocket watches.  The present example in white gold is highly complicated and lavishly decorated with a mother of pearl motif and dial, adorned with baguette-cut rubies and both round and baguette-cut diamonds.  Complemented by its white gold and ruby-set chain, this rare watch is an excellent example of the evolution of the 'Reverso' model.
