• gilded full plate engraved with scrolls, cylinder movement, signed Edw Tomlin Roy Exchange London, signed gilt-metal dust cap, finely pierced and scroll engraved balance cock with diamond endstone, bell striking • white enamel dial, Roman numerals for hours, Arabic numerals for minutes • inner case with scroll pierced and engraved band, outer case centered by polychrome enamel miniature of a shepherdess and her flock, bordered by red translucent enamel over engine-turning
Condition
CASE
Case in good condition, finish is worn overall. Engraving remains crisp. Bow and pendant particularly worn. Back enamel panel has been reset and glued in, loss to the gold and enamel border, enamel scene with scratches and light loss at the bottom. Inner case with loss of finish overall, in good condition with some scratches and pitting.
DIAL
Dial in good condition. No visible cracks but there are some scratches to the finish and surface that run deep.
MOVEMENT
Chiming is sluggish and the train and spring would benefit from cleaning and service. The movement is running at time of cataloging, however it was not tested for the accuracy of time or duration of the power reserve and may need service at the buyer's discretion.
