Catalogue Note

Reference 5216 brings the minute repeater to a further level of sophistication by launching the legendary caliber R TO 27 PS QR LU movement with the five most popular complications in a larger case measuring 39.5 mm that encloses a more voluminous resonant cavity to enhance the sonority of the chimes. With over 170 years of history, Patek Philippe has managed to make its name a synonym of the highest quality complications with minute repeating functions. The production of wristwatches with minute repeaters is still delivered by the most skilled watchmakers and the movements are regarded as some of the most complex of watch mechanisms. It can easily take up to 200 to 300 hours to assemble, after which the watch must be perfectly tuned to the superlative standard of sound for which Patek Philippe is famous.

This new Grand Complication follows in the footsteps of the famous 5016 that was launched in 1993 and has been widely popular among aficionados. Consigned by a very important private collector, the present reference 5216 is fresh to the market and completed with its original accessories.
