Catalogue Note

The son and grandson of watchmakers, Laurent Ferrier, is the emblematic figure of the brand that bears his name. After completing the training course at the Geneva Watchmaking School, he began his watchmaking career by working in the movement prototype workshop of one of the most prestigious watch manufacturers, Patek Philippe. After nearly 4 decades of working for the same firm, with his final position as a creative director, he decided to found his own brand dedicated to fine watchmaking. Representing a subtle blend of traditions and contemporary techniques, the Laurent Ferrier Galet Classic Tourbillon would appear as a simple time-only wristwatch at first glance. Showing off a tourbillon is common practice nowadays, but Laurent Ferrier has hidden its tourbillon to the back, allowing the wearer to appreciate the impeccably clean and delicate onyx dial. Turning the Galet Classic Tourbillon over affords a glimpse of the exquisite workmanship and reveals the double spiral tourbillon. The double spiral tourbillon mounted two balances in opposition and thus their radial forces cancel out, reducing friction and increasing precision and reliability. Naturally the use of a tourbillon is to compensate the effects of gravity, but this construction conceived by Laurent Ferrier guarantees even greater reliability of this regulating system. Accompanied by all of its original accessories, the present watch is offered in like new condition and fresh to the market. Making only a few hundred watches a year, to own a Laurent Ferrier wristwatch is truly an exclusive and special experience.
