Catalogue Note
Accompanied by a Patek Philippe Certificate of Origin, an instruction manual and a presentation box. Patek Philippe launched the reference 5101P in 2003 as a tribute to a vintage rectangular tourbillon wristwatch produced around 1956. The impressive triple-stepped case was inspired by the firm’s legendary Art Deco designs. This watch carries a combinations of two rare complications, which took Patek Philippe technicians three years to develop. The new tourbillon escapement was able to withstand the torque tolerances required to allow the watch to run for 10 days and was the first of its kind.
Patek Philippe took on a completely new challenge with their approach to the reference 5101/100R-001 in 2011. Exquisite and elegant scroll motifs have been finely engraved to the case which gives a whole fresh look to the already sophisticated ten day tourbillon. The stepped bezel is particularly challenging for the engravers as the space between each “step” is extremely slim. It requires countless hours of engraving to achieve such an aesthetic that the new hand engraved 10 day tourbillon is completely transformed and one of the best looking watches of recent years.
The present example is offered in like new condition, complete with all original accessories.
