Catalogue Note

Accompanied by an A. Lange & Söhne certificate, setting pin, instruction manual and presentation box. The Reference 1815 Moonphase was made to commemorate the 150th birthday of the company's founder's son, Emil Lange, who managed the company for over 40 years.

The moon position in the 1815 Moonphase is automatically adjusted twice a day and will deviate from the moon's actual orbit by only one day after 1058 years of uninterrupted operation. The moon-phase display is not set to the day as is more common procedure, but much more precisely to the hour, using a highly accurate lunar calendar which comes with the watch. The best-known constellation, the Big Dipper with its seven stars, links itself harmoniously with the moon-phase.

The present lot was produced in a limited series of only 250 pieces in pink gold.
