Catalogue Note

Accompanied by a Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives. Watches made by Patek Philippe for the illustrious Brazilian firm of Gondolo & Labouriau in Rio de Janeiro are prized as some of the best examples of the high-quality watches from the turn of the last century. "Chronometro Gondolo" watches were made especially for the Brazilian retailers who were important in the market from the 1870s. From 1902 Patek Philippe produced exclusively for Gondolo & Labouriau a specially designed very high quality calibre called "Chronometro Gondolo". These watches are characterized by movements bearing cam-wheel regulators and 9k gold gear train wheels.

For nearly 30 years of the two firm's partnership, Gondolo & Labouriau retailed close to a third of the entire production of Patek Philippe watches.
