Catalogue Note

Accompanied by a Cartier presentation box. This Cartier clock is extremely rare. The overall condition and original fitted box should please the most demanding of collectors however, the most intriguing aspect would be how time is concealed. One needs to open the two front doors made from gold and mounted with platinum and diamonds to observe the time.

It is very difficult to locate other Cartier shutter clocks made during this period in literature however, there are earlier Cartier shutter clocks in the 1920's and 30's illustrated in The Cartier Collection of Timepieces.

Due to the quality and rarity of this Cartier shutter clock, one would presume that it was made upon special order for an Important Cartier collector.
