• cal. 1570 automatic movement, 26 jewels • black dial, luminous triangular, baton and square indexes, orange central hand for 24 hour, magnified date aperture, center seconds • stainless steel Oyster case, screw-down crown and case back, bezel calibrated for 24 hours • case, dial and movement signed • with a stainless steel Rolex Oyster bracelet and folding clasp

Condition

Movement in working order when cataloging. The dial is in very attractive condition and the luminous has turn to a light warm yellow. The bezel with surface wear and minor lost to the black enamel. The surface wear can be seen with naked eye. the case in crisp condition with only light sign of polishing. The number between the lugs are very crisp but easy to read without the loupe. Overall in very attractive condition.* Please note that the movement has not tested for the accuracy of time or duration of the power reserve and a service might be required at the buyer's expense.

Catalogue Note

Rolex launched the Explorer II in 1971. Designed to aide explorers, the bright orange luminous 24-hour triangle tipped hand glowed under any light condition.

Reference 1655 is also known as the ‘Steve McQueen’. The present watch is fitted with a Mk 1 dial, which is correct for the serial number. The dial displays a "T Swiss T" designation underneath 6 o’clock, instead of "T SwissThe present watch is a highly charismatic example with a lovely dial, very crisp case and bezel which still retains the original black enamel.
