Catalogue Note

Accompanied by an Omega Extract from the Archives. The Omega Speedmaster is, by many, considered the quintessential sports watch and this is even more the case when one explores the lineage of the vintage references such as the above reference 2998-6.

Produced in the early 1960s this particular reference, made on June 11th 1963 for the United Kingdom, is characterised by the 'dot over the 90' bezel and 'Alpha' hands, features that are sure to satisfy the eye of any collector. The hands and indexes have adopted a pleasing and consistent patina and, additionally, the dial has started to discolour; currently taking on a very deep brown. As seen in other examples with tropical dials this watch is likely only to become more attractive with age.
