Condition
Good condition overall, consistent with age and gentle use. The piece is designed as a series of demountable elements that rest atop one another without hardware. The piece is stable, yet slightly wavering if pushed by hand. Signs of minor scuffing and small scratches visible throughout surface consistent with age and gentle use. Partial veneer loss to outer edges of shelves (largest 1 ¼-inch wide), but common with age and not visually distracting. Occasional subtle discolorations to the wood visible on the exposed sides of the shelves. Two upper corners of one of the vertical components with chips to veneer (approximately ½ x ¼ -in. in size each), but do not alter the functionality or aesthetic quality of the work. This bookcase presents well overall and is a well-preserved variation of a popular Perriand design.
