Condition

Overall in good, age-appropriate condition. The original enamel presents with scattered scuffs, scratches, and signs of oxidation to its surface, all consistent with age and use. Flaking to paint is especially concentrated to the bed's feet as well as on lower ends of the front and back sides, as visible in the catalogue illustration. Small dent in metal frame on one side, not visually distracting. The original wooden panels present with scattered scratches throughout, as well as surface soiling and isolated areas of nicks and chips, further emphasizing its 1936 execution date. The fabric cover is newer and in very good condition, with minor traces of wear. A wooden board was later attached to the bed frame, ensuring its stability and not visible when the mattress is in place. An iconic early piece by the designer.
