Condition

Both chairs in overall very good, age appropriate condition. The chairs were acquired directly from a Copenhagen retailer in the mid-1950s and have remained in the same New York collection ever since. The rich rosewood presents with minor scuffing, faint scratches and minor dents throughout consistent with age and gentle use. Two areas with small, dark areas of discoloration to the wood on one chair, the largest one measuring approximately 1 inch and not visually distracting. The upper front edges of each armrest with very faint fading, consistent with age. The wooden surfaces have been professionally conditioned to bring out the natural saturation and variations of the wood. The fabric of each chair is original and with light fading in the back, with appears more prominent on one chair. The upholstery is in very good condition overall. The removable seat cushions of each chair with light settling consistent with age and gentle use, which can be professionally addressed at the client's discretion. The webbing of each seat is original and slightly dry. One of Finn Juhl's most classic and desirable models, the form is remarkable for his ergonomic qualities and clean lines. An exceptional pair with original family provenance, the chairs present very well overall.
