Condition

Overall in very good condition consistent with age. When viewed in person, the lacquered red elements are slightly softer and more subtle in saturation, exhibiting a wider range of tones than demonstrated in the catalogue illustration. The shoulder with a minor, horizontal hairline scratch, measuring 1 1/2 in. The vase has been inspected under ultraviolet light and it appears that six of the red vertical lacquered elements and three of the black vertical lacquered elements have been professionally and sensitively relacquered in a manner consistent with the original lacquer. The silver bands minor tarnishing and light rubbing as is typical for this material and age. The overall form with a delicate hammered surface treatment. Demonstrating Dunand's abilities with graphic decoration in lacquer, the vase presents well overall.
