Condition

Overall very good condition. The shade is executed with a nuanced glass selection that transitions from cobalt at the upper aperture to a foggy grey-blue. When viewed in person, the dragonfly wings present slightly less red and more orange compared to the printed catalogue illustration. The shade with approximately 8 hairline cracks dispersed throughout and 3 hairline cracks to the small green cabochons, all stable. The shade with surface soiling throughout concentrated to the contours adjacent to the leadlines. The filigree overlay on the dragonfly wings appears to be all intact with slightly more concentrated surface soiling to the glass behind the filigree. The base in overall very good condition with beautifully chased detailing. The base with some light surface soiling to the recessed contours of the design and with some scattered minor discolorations. The bronze surfaces with some scattered extremely minor surface scratches and abrasions consistent with age and gentle use. The riser with some slightly deeper scratches, not visible when the shade is assembled. The socket arms appear to have been manipulated at some point in the history of the piece and are slightly over-bent. One socket arm appears to have be resoldered at some point in the history of the piece. All sockets and paddle switches appear original and undisturbed. With a period “Spider” finial with threaded pin in very good condition with some minor rubbing to the patina. A very charming shade and base pairing with an artistic and nuanced glass selection.
