Condition

Overall very good condition. This lamp is executed with beautifully decorated and strongly iridized glass, displaying a range of intense and luminous jewel-tones hues against a warm honey-ochre and magenta ground. The glass surfaces of the shade and base with scattered extremely fine surface scratches consistent with age and gentle handling. The glass with some occasional scattered minor surface irregularities inherent in the making. Due to the opacity of the glass, air bubbles and particulate inclusions are not visible, however some particulate inclusions are visible on the interior of the shade. The interior of the shade with a pulled thread inclusion inherent in the making which appears to have been ground down as part of the production process, not visible from the exterior of the shade. The upper aperture of the shade with some expected extremely minor fleabites, not visible when the finial is assembled. The base with some light surface soiling within the recessed portion beneath the base cushion. Both sockets appear period. One socket is lacking a pull-chain and the hole has been filled in; the socket is still fully functional. The pull-chain of the other socket has been soldered on and is not operational, however the socket is fully functional. With a period finial in overall very good condition with some minor wear to the gilt patina. A masterfully executed example of Tiffany’s blown favrile glass lighting with exceptional pulled feather decoration and rich coloration.
