Description

  • Diameter 5 1/8  in., 12.9 cm
finely potted with deeply rounded sides rising from a countersunk base, impressed to the interior with a design of a peacock in flight, clasping a long stem in its beak, all amidst meandering peony scroll, the well with a cloud scroll below a keyfret band at the rim, all beneath an ivory-white transparent glaze, pooling in the recesses, the rim unglazed

Condition

The dish is in overall good condition with some minor firing imperfections, including a few minute burst glaze bubbles to the interior.

A similar design of a peacock amidst peonies is seen on a slightly larger footed Ding dish in the collection of the National Palace Museum was included in their exhibition Decorated Porcelains of Dingzhou.
