of ovoid form, the exterior with pheasants and magpies amid rockwork and resplendent blooms of peony, chrysanthemum and prunus, all predominantly painted in vibrant green and iron-red enamels offset by muted aubergine and yellow hues against a white ground, the mouth and footring unglazed, wood cover (2)

Condition

The jar is in generally good condition for its size and type, with only minor firing imperfections (including an area of speckled glaze at the shoulder, a small loss and a firing line with an associated flake all to the underside of the footring, and fine glaze cracks around the lower body); minor expected wear to the surface and enamels; and a hairline crack to the interior base. Please note that this lot includes a stand, frame or other component made from a type of Chinese hardwood, which, if exported, will require a CITES permit to leave the United States.
