Description

  • Width: 8.62 cm, 3 3/8  in.
First type (1882-1902), Third Class, First Grade, large neck badge in silver-gilt, with two dragons flanking a central aperture, now lacking its original central coloured glass stone, against a turquoise enamelled ground, the reverse plain save for an impressed/incised Chinese seal, surmounted by a ruyi loop

Provenance

Possibly awarded to Constantin von Hanneken (1854-1925) in 1886, and thence by descent.

Condition

This medal is in overall good condition apart from missing its original central stone. There are very slight surface scratches, rubbing of enamels and gilding. There are some minor oxidisation of metal at the back around the edge.
