Description

  • Width: 5.60 cm, 2 1/4  in.
First Type (1882-1902), Second Class, First Grade, uniface neck badge in silver, silver-gilt, green and blue enamels, the centre with two silver dragons surrounding a central engraved and inlaid coral stone, suspended with a loop from a Chinese embroidered double dragon neck riband in brown

Provenance

Possibly awarded to Constantin von Hanneken (1854-1925) in 1894, and thence by descent.

Exhibited

Tianjin Museum, between 2006 and 2008.

Condition

The badge and riband are in overall very good condition, with minor rubbing of gilding and enamels. There are slight surface scratches. The riband with some very minor loose threads, and very minor loss of colour on the turquoise back.
