Description

  • 49 cm, 19 1/4  in.
the flattened rounded sides rising from a stepped pedestal base to a long cylindrical neck, flanked by a pair of tubular handles at the rim, the body with six protruding flanges alternating with scalloped panels of animals in relief, the neck decorated with two applied sinous chilong, further decorated with archaistic designs at the rim, shoulders and foot, the base inscribed with a four character mark reading huzhou xue zao (made by Huzhou Xue)

Provenance

Collection of Gustav Detring (1842-1913) and/or Constantin von Hanneken (1854-1925), and thence by descent.

Condition

The vase is in general good condition with the exception of four small holes drilled to the top and some small marks directly beneath these. There are some minor dents to the extremities, and some minor malachite encrustations in various areas.
