Catalogue Note

Banco di San Giorgio (the Bank of Saint George), was founded in 1407, in an effort to consolidate and manage the public debt that was rapidly amassing due to trade wars with Venice. Banco di San Giorgio was the oldest chartered bank in the world.An uncommon book, not in the British Library. OCLC lists only one other copy.
