4to (8 15/16 x 11 7/16 in.; 228 x 290mm). Half-title printed in red and black, mounted photographic portrait (7 7/16 x 9 5/16 in.; 190 x 237mm) inscribed by the author in ink "To Roy [D. Chapman Sr.] with all good wishes, Sidney D. Waldon, July 1st, 1926", title-page printed in red and black, 7 photogravure plates from photographs by S.N. Leek, captioned tissue guards; small chip to portrait, some toning to leaves. Original full brown pebble morocco, boards bevelled and gilt-ruled, upper board with title and elk's head device in gilt, top edge gilt, brown satin doublures; rubbing to extremities with some loss to morocco, vertical scratch to cover.

Catalogue Note

One of only 11 copies printed by Waldon, "exclusively for those among my friends who will appreciate it most. An account of an elk-hunting and motoring expedition held in Wyoming. Sidney Dunn Waldon was president of the Detroit Rapid Transit Commission, and Roy D. Chapin founder of the Hudson Motor Company, and later Secretary of Commerce under Hoover. Roy D. Chapin Jr., whose bookplate this copy bears, was head of the American Motors Corporation.
